When Aladdin got fed up with Abu's stealing, he threatened to curb the monkey's kleptomania with a leash. They had a falling out, and Abu left. He wound up tagging along with Amin Damoola. Amin convinced Abu to help him steal the Five Fingers of DisCount, a magical golden gauntlet with powerful abilities, from the royal treasure vault. When Abu overheard Aladdin saying that he missed Abu, he got downhearted. When Aladdin came to get Abu back, Amin didn't need him anymore (since he had the gauntlet), so Abu helped Aladdin defeat Damoola.
