The Muktar are an ancient enemy of the genies. Everyone thought they were gone/extinct/legends/etc., but when the Genie's old master (also named Al) hired one to re-capture him they learned the truth: they're still around, and they make great Genie hunters. It turns out Al Gebraic (1 wish for eternal life + 0 wishes for eternal youth=1 really, really old guy) wanted a companion/servant, and Genie fit the bill. When he saw how close Genie and Aladdin were he had a conscience attack and dissolved the contract (putting in a retainer with the Muktar; Aladdin won't live forever...). Later, the Muktar was hired by Mozenrath to capture the Genie. On the way, the Genie saved the Muktar's life, and in the end the Muktar returned the favor. After defeating Mozenrath, he left, as a friend instead of an enemy. The Muktar is an incredibly skilled tracker/hunter/fighter, can smell magic, and is swift beyond belief. He rides a beast that resembles a reptilian ostrich. He is armed with many magical devices, such as a lantern that sucks up genies, living manacles to control genies, a medallion that traps people, and magic-trapping bolas.
